Months ago, some from our food distribution team came upon a house which was in a very severe state of neglect (flies everywhere, extreme odor, dirty clothes are piled in all places.) They met a 12-year-old girl staying there alone. Her parents were gone to be treated for their severe health issues. Our team gave the food packs and left, with a burden in their hearts.
When they shared to the team what had happened, God also put a burden in me. I knew in my heart that I will be helping in cleaning that house.
Some of our team helped connect the family to a reputable Christian orphanage (working in affiliation with YWAM) to take in and help the 12-year-old girl. The parents are already in a bad state of health and finances and they weren’t expecting to live much longer. The family has broken relationships with most of their relatives that none are wiling to take in the girl. She also stopped studying at third grade and she needs a lot of professional help.
Her mother is blind because of diabetes and her dad has heart issues and diabetes. They began to willingly let us help them, including allowing us to clean their house.
When we began cleaning the house, I immediately volunteered to clean the kitchen. Words cannot describe how bad that kitchen was (mounds of animal manure, worms and slugs thriving, etc.) The kitchen wasn’t cleaned for years. Both parents are physically disabled and are unable to do so. At some point during the cleaning, I had to stop and cry a prayer to God for grace and help.
Then I realized this: that God is a loving and kind God. No one was willing to help this family anymore. BUT God, in His love and kindness, sent His people to this place and placed a burden in their hearts to help them. In His love for them, He clearly spoke to me for days that I will be cleaning that horrible part of that house.
Before cleaning:
After cleaning:
After that day of house-cleaning, we began sharing to the parents the Word of God. I can see how they are finally open and willing to listen to His words of forgiveness and love. Jane is also doing well in the orphanage. She is a very smart child and the orphanage is committed to her development until adulthood.
The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.
Matthew 25:40

Prayer request:
Pray that as we continue to share to them the true stories from the Bible, the parents (Jennifer and Rudy) will start to learn to receive God’s love and to love those who has hurt them deeply.
