YWAM BELT Outreach in San Jose island, Surigao
Last May, we finished a 10-day YWAM BELT seminar (Biblical Education and Leadership Training, ywambelt.org) in San Jose island in Surigao. That’s the hometown of our YWAM Baguio co-staff (Jerlyn) and we did our seminar in her home church there. It was a healing time for the church as we studied the Bible together. Their previous pastor’s recent abrupt quitting was painful for the congregation and I believe God's Word brought strength to them during their healing time. We really enjoyed our time with the 40+ participants (some of which were from the Catholic church).
Pongian Church Update
Bible Study Started
Our Pongian Church started a weekly bible study. We have 6 parents who regularly come every Friday evening and stay from 7 pm up to even 9 pm just to study the Word. They were asking really good theological questions and they are really hungry for God’s Truth. We started for Genesis 1 and are now in Genesis 10. We focus on the truth of who God is, who we are, what happened when sin entered the world, what is God’s loving plan of redemption, and how do we apply these Truth in our lives.

Retaining Wall Construction
We also were able to save and raise enough to start building our big retaining wall for our church building. We plan to finish the construction this week, before storm season comes. We still are praying for the rest of the funds.
Future Plans
For our upcoming plans, once the preparation of our Discipleship Training School (DTS, https://ywam.org/dts) settles, we desire to help our Pongian kids in learning how to read, write, and do arithmetic. There are handful who are already in their teens but can’t still read due to the combination of poverty and the pandemic pausing proper public education.
Word by Heart School
I will be preparing in staffing the Word by Heart school (https://www.wordbyheart.org/) on September 3 to November 24. This is a second-level school of the University of the Nations (https://uofn.edu/) and is a school endorsed by Loren Cunningham as a huge part of the next vision of Youth With A Mission (ywam.org): the oral translation of the Bible to all known mother tongues (heart language).

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6
